The Shi Organic Farm
Our mission is to educate the California local community with the concept of seed-to-plate farming and inspire people to become the producer of their food. We strive to increase our community's ecological knowledge and provide free organic food for those living under the poverty line to promote food security in our local community.
Our farm offers volunteer opportunities every week to local communities. Corporations and local schools will have the opportunities to send their employees and students to our farm and learn a great deal about farming and our ecosystem. Through volunteering at our farm, people from our local community will obtain a deeper understanding of our healthy ecological system as well as the idea of local food production. Ideally, volunteers at our farm will become more aware of where does the ingredient come from when choosing their food.
Although there are already many local farms that are offering similar programs, our organic farm purses an additional goal to help families that couldn't afford healthy food. According to California Association of Food Banks, around one in five children in California might go to bed hungry. We aspire to boost food security by offering healthy, organic products to families that are facing food insecurity. Our farm will send our healthy products to those families on a monthly base.
I think that our organic farm will plant the seeds of sustainable farming and food security in our local community and increase the awareness of preserving our local environment.
